PRLog - July 10, 2012 - THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.--Parents still have time to sign up their children for summer swim lessons at the Conejo Valley YMCA. Sessions run through August 23. Junior lifeguard training is also available.
Summer swim lessons at the Conejo Valley YMCA
"Kids need to be comfortable in the pool and understand water safety," says Meghan Lopez, Conejo YMCA aquatics director. "In Southern California, kids are often around pools or at the beach. It's important that they know the necessary skills to be safe--and to enjoy their time in the water."
The Y offers lessons at every skill level designed to reinforce good water habits in children who already have had swim lessons and to build confidence and abilities in those who are just learning. "Some children realize they love swimming so much that they eventually join the Y's swim team," says Lopez.
Classes are for children as young as 6 months (parent/tot class) where they learn to have fun and be comfortable in the water, to age six and older where they fine-tune swim strokes and breathing techniques. Children advance at their own pace.
The Conejo Y, Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park and the Simi Valley Family YMCA all feature indoor swimming pools with water temperatures at 84 degrees and hydrotherapy pools at 92 degrees. Triunfo YMCA swim classes take place at the Agoura High School pool.
