-- ST. LOUIS, Mo., July 10, 2012-- Lt. Gubernatorial candidate Mike Carter said today that "Much the same as trips to the East Side, traveling across the state giving out fake awards costs money. But, typically when someone Heads East (as they say in St. Louis metro area) they pay their own way
. Lt. Governor Kinder again and again is proving that he is real good at spending other peoples' money. If I came home and told my wife, of course Kinder doesn't know what that's like, that I was criss-crossing the state giving out award certificates and that's why we have to pay the mortgage late, well, let's just say she would not be happy,"
Here is what Kinder's office said of the nominations:
"Kinder's office is accepting nominations for the Veterans Service Award. The deadline to submit nominations is June 30, 2012. Each nominee will receive a certificate of recognition, which will note the nominating person or agency. Fifteen winners, selected from across the state, will be recognized and presented with an official Declaration from the Lieutenant Governor."
Kinder also gives out the same type of Senior Citizen awards on a routine basis. Carter contends that every part of this unnecessarily costs tax payers money on printing, gas, travel, staff, labor, and more. He says the practice should stop.
Carter will be robo calling Missouri voters this week to announce this push. Voters can opt out of the calls at http://www.MikeCarter.com
Carter is an independent-
minded Republican that values prohibiting government intrusion into citizens' privacy above nearly all else. He has voted for Ron Paul and Ross Perot twice. He is a former judge, real estate attorney, Senior Lecturer for the University of Missouri, corporate counsel, and Director at the St. Louis Board of REALTORS.
