Barrick Gold Purchases Inuktun Spectrum 120 HD™ Camera System

July 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Nanaimo, BC, Canada – Barrick Gold Corporation, the world's largest pure gold mining company, recently purchased a Spectrum 120 HD™ pan, tilt and zoom camera system from Inuktun Services Ltd.

The Spectrum 120 HD™ provides crystal-clear video in air or underwater. It is equipped with a high-definition two mega-pixel imager (1080i resolution) with 120x zoom, all inside a package that is only 4.75inches (120 mm) in diameter. Barrick Gold will use the camera to inspect a variety of pipes and other infrastructure in the underground mines at Barrick's Goldstrike Complex in Nevada. The camera will also be available for use by other Goldstrike divisions, including the open pit mine and the processing mill.

Dobell says Barrick's purchase marks Inuktun's most recent sale of remote inspection equipment and accessories to a mining company. “We have been doing more and more business with the mining industry,” he said. “Mining-related revenue has increased almost five times in the last year.” Other mining customers include Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (gold); TESRA S.A (copper); and Goldcorp Canada Ltd. (gold).

Founded in 1989, Inuktun Services Ltd. specializes in remote-controlled robotic transport and delivery of visual inspection equipment and instrumentation tooling. In addition to producing and selling equipment for a variety of remote robotic inspection applications, the company also offers a range of engineering services. Customers include Ontario Power, GE Nuclear Energy, Hitachi Nuclear, Idaho National Engineering Laboratory (US Department of Energy), Pacific Gas and Electric and the US Army Corps of Engineers' Engineer Research and Development Center.
