PetCareRx.com Helps Raise Money for ECAD (Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities)

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul. 10, 2012 - PetCareRx.com is proud to help Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities (ECAD) raise money for their outstanding organization.  ECAD’s mission is to educate and place Assistance Dogs with people with disabilities so they will have greater independence and mobility.  To date, ECAD has placed 200 Assistance Dogs in 20 states and, at present, has 50 dogs in various stages of their education. The organization was founded by Dale and Lu Picard in 1995 and received its non-profit status in 1995.  As a non-profit, ECAD relies on corporations like PetCareRX.com and individuals to fund its mission.

PetCareRx.com conducted a Memorial Day e-mail campaign in which customers were urged to buy merchandise of which 5% of the company’s proceeds would be donated to ECAD. Due to this successful campaign, PetCareRx.com generated a $3,081.00 donation to help ECAD continue its mission. As part of this ongoing partnership, PetCareRx.com also provides ECAD with a full supply of dog food – a generous donation equating to over $20K this year to date, in addition to all of the funds donated in various campaigns throughout the year.

ECAD’s program tailors each dog’s skills to the specific needs of the client, whether they are Wounded Warriors who have become disabled and/or are contending with PTSD, children with Autism, or people living with a variety of disabilities including Multiple Sclerosis or Muscular Dystrophy. Project HEAL was developed in recent years to specifically educate dogs for the growing number of Veterans needing Assistance Dogs.  Project HEAL also has a transition program in which Veterans are trained to educate the dogs that will be assigned to other Veterans, thereby regaining confidence and their ability to function in a civilian environment.
