CSG Promotes Peer Groups to Improve Janitorial Contractors Service Delivery

Contract Services Group, Inc. continues to improve its janitorial and window cleaning services through peer group involvement.

July 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Contract Services Group, Inc. continues to improve its janitorial and window cleaning services through peer group involvement.

Janitorial services are an extremely competitive industry.  Janitorial and window cleaning contractors are always looking for a competitive advantage over the competition. Establishing a peer group is a great way to set your company apart.

The executive management team of Contract Services Group, Inc. (CSG) believes that its participation in a janitorial industry peer group gives it a competitive advantage. A key component of that advantage is achieved through continuing education provided through peer group involvement. The goal is that all levels within the organization, from janitors and window cleaners, to the senior executives, are offered the opportunity to advance their industry knowledge.

One of the most important educational opportunities is CSG’s active involvement in an industry Peer Group. This group consists of seven companies who are located throughout the United States. The group conducts its business monthly through a conference call, and meets formally three times a year. Two of those meetings are at a member company’s business. The group conducts a thorough audit of the member’s business it is visiting. “It’s like having a team of industry consultants evaluate the business”, stated Casey Pearce, President of CSG.  None of the members compete in the same geographical market, so there can be complete openness and candor in these audits.

The Peer Group recently expanded its educational opportunities with its first Strategic Planning Retreat.  The group recently met in Houston, Texas for two full days of education. CSG Chief Executive Officer, John Pearce, represented Contract Services Group at this Strategic Planning Retreat.

On the first day the group reviewed and discussed a new Peer Group Training Manual developed by two of the group’s members. The basis of success of the peer group, as stated in the manual, is based upon confidentiality, peer to peer sharing, and personal responsibility. The Building Services Contractors Association International (BSCAI) had a representative, Christopher Mundschenk, participate in this session. BSCAI is looking to incorporate this Peer Group training format and offer it to BSCAI members. "Peer groups are a natural evolution of trade associations like BSCAI. The relationships, interactions, information sharing, coaching and honest feedback that happens in peer groups allows our members to make the association experience very personal.  Peer group members have an amazing opportunity to develop themselves and ultimately take their companies to the next level by being accountable to each other,” commented Christopher Mundschenk, when asked about BSCAI’s involvement with janitorial industry specific peer groups.

For day two of the Strategic Retreat the group hired industry expert Dana Weaver of Dana Weaver Consulting to present a program for Top Grading the operations management of each attendee’s specific company. This was very hands-on seminar; all Peer Group members had been given a homework assignment prior to the retreat. The process of our top grading had already begun. Dana gave up the details of the program to complete the process. The program is a proven method of continuously raising the bar and the quality of the management team.  CSG’s executive team has completed its Top Grading of its operations managers and supervisors. The results are now being implemented.

“CSG is now a Top Graded organization, structured to provide continuously improved services for its clients,” stated John Pearce, CEO of CSG.

CSG continues to see business improvements through peer group involvement. Now that BSCAI is looking to incorporate peer groups into the its membership, peer groups will become an absolute necessity to janitorial and window cleaning companies who are looking to stay ahead of the competition and continue to provide their clients with excellent service.
