PRLog - July 9, 2012 - Tomorrow, Tuesday July 10, 2012, a small U.S. Commerce delegation arrives in Brussels, Belgium. David Drake, Founder and CEO of The Soho Loft Capital Creation Event (TSL), is selected to represent U.S. views on crowd funding and the JOBS Act (Jumpstart Our Business StartUps Act). The delegation will have private meetings with European ministers, regulators and legislators on US and European Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) policies and programs.

The European Commission and the US Government decided at a Transatlantic Economic Council meeting (back in December 2010) to collaborate on ways to increase trade and investment opportunities for US and European SMEs. Representatives from all European countries have now created a special workshop focusing on growth of young start-ups and SMEs to stimulate capital flows including loan guarantees as well as new alternative financial markets.

“I am truly honored to participate in this workshop to share U.S. best practices and lessons learned from effective venture capital and guarantee policies and programs.” says Mr. Drake. “This is a major development in cross-Atlantic communication to export and import the leading capital formation solutions while also extending diplomatic relations and sharing leadership visions.”

Mr. Drake has over the last year travelled globally to participate in 60+ panel discussions and conferences on crowd funding and the JOBS Act; is a founding member of the CrowdFund Intermediary Regulatory Advocates and currently involved in regular conversations with the SEC. In other words, he has been diligently absorbing all experiences, opinions and recommendations from governmental entities, the entire global investment community, angel networks, lawyers, entrepreneurs in hundreds of fields and will present this information in Europe.

The capital formation workshop will be conducted with the US Commerce department’s thought leaders and experts on government, SMEs and legislative initiatives like the JOBS Act. These are but a few topics which will be covered in Brussels.  The counter parts of the SME incentive programs and alternative financing solutions on both continents are meeting and sharing knowledge, insight and solutions.

“We have organized panel sessions covering the JOBS Act regulation and crowd funding,” declares Mr. Drake. “Part of the discussion focuses on how the SEC modification incorporated in the JOBS Act has bolstered prospects for exempt offerings and how it has a positive impact on the role of private markets. We want the attendees to fully grasp how the JOBS Act and SEC modifications have created an array of new financing opportunities domestically and globally.”

The first time Mr. Drake presented crowd funding to European financial institutions and media was during GlobeForum at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm April 26, 2012.  Mr. Drake's Brussels visit with the U.S. Commerce department tomorrow is one of a dozen new speaking engagements that have resulted from that initial Stockholm visit.  Johan Gorecki, co-founder of Skype, originally extended the Stockholm invitation has now asked Mr. Drake to co-produce Funding Forum 2012 with him. This major European financial conference, owned by Bonniers Europe’s 4th largest media company, will take place November 15, 2012 in Stockholm.  “Crowd funding is a global force and we need to challenge institutions on how they address this change in the people’s funding options” says Mr. Gorecki.

Mr. Drake presentation tomorrow in Brussels will cover Regulation A and Regulation D exemption changes in the JOBS Act and how those changes prompt foreign firms to seek out funding and listing
in the U.S. on exchanges like Nasdaq, NYSE and OTC.  In addition, the demand to learn about crowd funding for equity sections of the JOBS Act is also a hot ongoing topic that will be discussed at length.

Confirmed speakers attending tomorrow’s meeting with David Drake:
Mr. Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy;
Ambassador David Thorne, U.S. Ambassador to Italy;
Mr. Antonio Tajani, Vice President of European Commission and Ambassador;
Miriam Sapiro, Deputy U.S. Trade Representative.

The event is private and sold out with 200 plus attendees. We will however update our social media sites ongoing during our stay in Europe so make sure to visit our pages: Linkedin and Facebook and Google+ and @TSLCCevents.
