July 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Dallas, TX  - While continuing to forge the path for the proper caretaking and education of black hair, Naturally Isis tallies another year onto the movement that is the 2nd Annual World Natural Hair Parade & Festival. Scheduled to take place September 1, 2012; with the parade portion beginning promptly at 10:30am. The festival portion of the event will begin immediately following the parade at 12:00noon and last until 7:00pm at the Beckley-Saner Park. Admission to the 2nd Annual World Natural Hair Parade & Festival is free of charge.

The World Natural Hair Parade & Festival was created as a platform for community healing; developing an avenue to usher in love, peace and unification all for the purpose of cultivating the labor of love for natural hair. And in its first year, the World Natural Hair Parade & Festival did just that; hosting more than 1,500 attendees and participants.

"Many people don’t understand the depths to which Black hair was enslaved in this country… we were once forced to cover our hair with rags! It was against the law for Blacks to be seen in public with natural hair. But change is here! Today we are able to celebrate and parade in the streets with our afros, locks, twists and kinky hair! It’s deeper than just surface; we are liberating a people from low self-esteem and self hate. We are educating, celebrating and ‘healing through the hair’; which is the Naturally Isis' mantra. With this parade and festival we are redefining, restoring, and refreshing the love and beauty standards of Black hair in America. The spirit of God nestles in our hair-- and it is our collective duty and responsibility to protect the integrity of our ancestors and to uplift African beauty aesthetic." –Isis Brantley Founder of Naturally Isis; The Institute of Ancestral Braiding

This year’s parade and festival will promote black owned businesses, community development, and economic empowerment. Additionally, the primary aim of the event is to award single family parents Scholarships to attend The Institute of Ancestral Braiding, where they will learn skills that will enable them to better provide for their families.
With goals to attract an unprecedented amount of event-goers in its second year, the festival is set to be highly interactive, providing the Dallas, Fort Worth community with live entertainment, hands on braiding and lock twisting workshops, children activities, speakers and poets, and a host of food and product vendors.

The World Natural Hair Parade & Festival is currently in search of individuals, businesses, organizations and complementing brands interested in serving as Sponsors, Vendors and/or Volunteers. About Isis Brantley
Isis Brantley is known throughout the beauty industry as a champion and advocate for the revitalization and proper caretaking of natural hair for people of color. As a custodian and patron of cultural beauty and awareness, Isis has served as a staple within the African Diaspora community for more than 30 years. Seen often as a revolutionary and iconic figure, Isis is known largely throughout the state of Texas as a result of her 1997 arrest for braiding hair without a license. Isis is passionate about developing self-awareness in African American women and girls and works tirelessly to advance the knowledge and acceptance of natural hair as well as promote healthy lifestyle habits within the community.
