Golf GPS comes home – Golf Today website first to feature Shotmiser interactive virtual GPS

Innovative UK Golf GPS supplier Shotmiser have created a virtual Golf GPS. Golfers can view and virtually 'walk' a course from the comfort of their own home via point & click colour hole maps. Now available directly from the Golf Today website.

July 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Online golf resource website Golf Today are the first to recognise the value of the Shotmiser virtual GPS and are currently adding the interactive unit to all of their course guides on the Golf Today website. Other golf authority websites will surely follow.

Where the virtual unit scores over the traditional hole by hole guide is that with a click of the mouse the distance to any point on the course is shown on the interactive hole map. Golfers who do not own a top of the range on course handheld GPS, such as the Shotmiser, can now study the course the night before play.

Clive Carpenter, Editor of GolfToday.co.uk says "As owners of the world's most comprehensive golf course guide, we are delighted to partner with Shotmiser in bringing highly detailed course maps, complete with yardages, to our readers. The Shotmiser Virtual Unit allows golfers to play the course online before or after their game, building a game plan, or analysing their round."

"You will be able to explore any of the thousands of courses mapped by Shotmiser interactively on the virtual GPS" says Mike Lloyd sales manager at Shotmiser. "So if you want to virtually explore Royal Lytham in preparation for the Open or have a look at your local course it most likely will be mapped and ready to view".

The virtual unit uses the hole maps and accurate distance information taken directly from the handheld Shotmiser GPS units. This allows use of the Point to Point technology which has always been a key benefit of the Shotmiser. To use the virtual unit online you just click any point on the map. The distance to that point and the remaining distance to the centre of the green is shown.

Golfers can explore a course on the virtual unit on the Shotmiser website. It's free to use. Or check out the courses such as Carnoustie on the Golf Today website, here: http://www.golftoday.co.uk/clubhouse/coursedir/scotland/A...

Mike Lloyd says "We expect interest from golf clubs who see that an interactive view of their course would be a great addition to their course information. Any prospective visitor is likely to be delighted at the opportunity to get a real feel for the course before arriving on the 1st Tee."

Any golf club or golfing website that would like to add the virtual unit to their site for free should get in contact with Mike at mike.lloyd@shotmiser.com.

Clive adds "We recommend that golfers take advantage of the great prices on offer to carry a physical Shotmiser GPS unit onto the course, and use it to improve their course management and scoring. Knowing your yardages and thinking your way round a course isn't just for low-handicappers and pros - indeed, the high handicapper has the most to gain from a sensible game plan, and the confidence this builds. A Shotmiser GPS could be the best investment they ever make in their game!"
