New Florida Personal Injury Protection Law (PIP) means Sweeping Changes; Makes Contacting a Ft Lauderdale Personal Injury Attorney Immediately Critical to Victim's Ability to Receive Accident and Medical Benefits.
A new law that went into effect July 1st means changes for the injured and makes it more important than ever that Ft Lauderdale car accident victims contact a personal injury attorney as quickly as possible following an auto accident.
The changes to the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) law went into effect July 1st. After July 1st, people who are injured in a car accident have a limit of 14 days to seek medical treatment, and only those diagnosed with an “emergency medical condition” will be eligible for PIP benefits.
"The new law means injured people must act quickly", said attorney Robert Fenstersheib (http://www.tellrobert.com/
In 2010 there were 235,461 Florida Auto Accidents resulting in over 195,000 injuries. The new Florida PIP law limits the amounts that car accident victims can receive without proper medical care within the 14 day window.

The new law requires reductions in personal insurance premiums of ten percent in 2012, and twenty-five percent in 2014. It also reduce benefits such as prohibiting post-accident treatments like massage therapy, chiropractics and acupuncture.
Other changes include more extensive documentation of accidents and stricter licensing of clinics providing medical treatment for accident victims. Benefits also are capped at $2,500 unless a doctor, osteopathic physician, dentist or a supervised physician’s assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner determines there’s an "emergency medical condition." Chiropractors cannot make that determination. More information on Florida Car Accident Attorneys can be found here http://www.tellrobert.com/
Smaller injuries are not likely to be covered by the full $10,000 PIP benefit, and many patients could only receive coverage of $2,500. Soft tissue injuries will be limited to the much smaller coverage. If all these changes in your coverage sound confusing, they are. Having a knowledgeable lawyer can be helpful in ensuring that accident victims receive the full benefit for their Florida car accident injuries.
