July 8, 2012 - PRLog -- This was the launch of a new service by Safe Communities Algarve in the form of a  seminar to the public jointly held between the organization and the GNR. The number of participants well exceeded expectations and included representatives from the British Consul and Faro Municipality. Presenters were David Thomas and Captain Santos Commander of the GNR Faro.

Apart from covering the various subjects mentioned above it also provided an opportunity to those present to raise various points and concerns with the GNR. Reaction by those attending was very positive as it enabled them to learn more about policing and issues affecting their area.

David Thomas Founder of Safe Communities Algarve said that "He was delighted with the high turnout and the interest shown by the local community in crime prevention.

He added that although Portugal has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe it was important that the public take steps to maintain the Algarve as a safe place to live and visit.

David added that this was the first jointly held public seminar and given its success  more seminars would be planned in the region over the next few months.
