July 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Querencia at Barton Creek, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit senior living community sponsored by Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), is one of the first retirement communities in the state to offer Masterpiece Living®, an initiative to expand and maximize health, vitality and independence for their residents.   Querencia is the only community to offer the innovative program in Austin.

A launch celebration with residents, guests and staff at Querencia featured Dr. David Gobble, Director Emeritus of Masterpiece Living® and Director and Professor of Ball State’s Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology, who spoke on successful aging.  Dr. Gobble has been recognized by the National Wellness Institute as one of the top 100 wellness experts in the world.  He shared the Masterpiece Living® philosophy and the many success stories from senior living communities throughout the country.

“Launching Masterpiece Living has brought the entire community together for one great cause,” said Ross Dickmann, executive director at Querencia.  “The week was full of exciting events that recognized the four key pillars of the Masterpiece Living culture, which are social engagement, physical health, intellectual stimulation and spiritual fulfillment.”

SQLC will also introduce Masterpiece Living® at the sister communities of Querencia – Edgemere in Dallas, The Buckingham in Houston, Mirador in Corpus Christi and The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth.

Founded in 1999 by Larry Landry, the goal of Masterpiece Living® is to increase the overall health and involvement of a community’s population.  As a part of the partnership with Querencia, Masterpiece Living® will provide training programs and tools for evaluating and tracking residents’ and community progress including health assessment resources from the Mayo Clinic.
