The Peace Islands Institute was founded as the Interfaith Dialog Center in 2003 and adopted its new name in April 2011. Dr. Koc has been the director and the first full time staff person of the institute since Fall 2004.
“I am deeply honored for my tenure with New Jersey Peace Islands Institute and all the friends I have made from all walks of life. I am thankful to these friends for so much I have learned from them about other faiths and cultures, which helped me advance my world view." Levent Koc said in a brief statement. "I feel that I am the most fortunate person as I’ve met and worked with those who deeply care about mutual respect and understanding. I cannot thank the Turkish-American community enough for their endless financial and spiritual support."
Levent Koc will serve as the director of North East Turkish-American (NETA) Scholars, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting intellectual and scholarly activities and social interactions primarily among Turkish-American scholars and scientists in the North Eastern States in order to facilitate interaction, collaboration, and exchange of information. Dr. Koc will continue to reside in NJ and be involved in the PII programs voluntarily.
PII’s board thanks Dr. Koc for his service to PII and wishes him best with his new journey.
