Follow on Google News | The Emerging New York Architects Launches Exhibit Showcasing Winners of Design Ideas CompetitionNourishing USA was chosen as the client of choice for ENYA’s design challenge to create a food and nutrition educational facility at the site of a decommissioned marine transfer station in West Harlem.
By: Nourishing USA Nourishing USA is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) community food program that strives to achieve “nutrition for all.” Originally launched as Nourishing NYC in East Harlem, they addressed issues of food scarcity and hunger in the poverty-stricken community. As of September 2011, Nourishing USA now serves communities nationwide to alleviate the strong correlation between low-income status and poor dietary health. By connecting the West Harlem neighborhood to the Hudson River, access to the waterfront could serve as an engine for new kinds of local economic development.
