Condom Nation Tour – Charlotte NC

July 6, 2012 - PRLog -- AIDS group’s 70-foot, 18-wheel ‘Condom Nation’ big rig and companion Sprinter van continue national condom giveaway tour stops in Charlotte, NC. The Goal: 6 months, 25-states, distribute 10 million free condoms!

What:
Free HIV & STI testing, free condom giveaway, festive atmosphere with a DJ and complimentary refreshments for all participants. Quality Home Care Services, Inc. is the local host organization (www.qhcsnc.org).

AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s (AHF) ‘Condom Nation’ 18-wheel semi-truck continues its six-month,  40-city, 25-state free condom tour; local advocates to hand out free condoms and offer free confidential HIV & STD testing. This event is open to the public Collaborative Partners : Carolinas Care Partnership, Regional AIDS Interfaith Network, Rasberrirose  Foundation and Mecklenburg County HIV/AIDS Task Council.  In addition to HIV testing, screening for syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichinosis will be available.

‘Condom Nation’ joins Quality Home Care Services, Inc. in its commitment to stop the spread of HIV and STI’s in the Greater Charlotte area by providing FREE HIV and STI testing.  Complimentary refreshments will be served at the PowerHouse Project (PHP) located directly across the street from the Food Lion parking lot.  PHP is a community drop-in center operated by Quality Home Care Services, Inc.
‘Condom Nation’ will:
•Partner with 40+ local advocates in 25 states to distribute ten million free condoms
•Educate and raise awareness about safe sex practices
•Promote the use of condoms through education and advertising
•Spearhead a national advocacy campaign to lower the price of condoms

“Condom Nation is a serious, yet somewhat whimsical and creative effort by AIDS Healthcare Foundation to help promote increased condom use and to help make condoms more accessible and affordable,” said Michael Weinstein, President of AIDS Healthcare Foundation. “Condoms are an essential part of preventing HIV and STDs.
