"I just want to get the book into as many hands as possible — to generate interest and get people talking about it," says author Wayne Wirs.
The premise of "The Carefree Diet" is that all diets ultimately fail because they force dieters into direct conflict with themselves — between their mind's willpower and their body's natural cravings. "Any fight with yourself is a fight you're going to lose," Wirs says.
According to "The Carefree Diet," the key is to approach the way we eat from a whole new perspective. "To lose weight permanently, your diet has got to be simple and largely automated," Wirs says. "No restrictions on carbs, sweets, or fats, no counting calories, no fighting yourself. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, you've got to be able to eat what you want."
Wirs stresses that this doesn't mean taking diet pills or appetite suppressants. "This is a completely natural diet. It's about changing the way you think about your meals, about the way you eat. It's about permanent weight loss, not some questionable quick fix scheme."
