It is a day complete with a call to action; the owner of Black Twin Cities is challenging the company’s 3,000+ fans, followers and subscribers to “purchase only from local, Black-owned companies” for one day. The challenge seems simple enough, but how many people will participate?
“I’m not sure how many people will participate on August 18th”, says La Juana Whitmore (owner Black Twin Cities), “but even if only a few of our fans purchase from just one Black-owned business that they had not tried before, the day is a success”.
“What I do know is that it is the perfect opportunity for small businesses to get targeted exposure to people who want to buy from them”, says Whitmore.
With a website that lists businesses offering everything from barbecued ribs to legal services, the Black Twin Cities business directory is the premiere, Black-owned business resource in the Minneapolis/
Says Whitmore, "I am extremely excited to spearhead this event, it gets right to the core of the Black Twin Cities’ mission, to inform in a way that encourages dollars to be recycled throughout our community, it is what Black Twin Cities is all about."
