Mona Clayton is a Registered Nurse, Author, and Entrepreneur who has been on a speaking tour talking about the benefits of having a career in the field of nursing. “I believe passage of “Obamacare”
She started her campaign in 2007 when she authored her first book “Surviving The Journey: From Student To Nurse” and launched Nurses Roc 2 Publishing, a company designed to bring awareness about the nursing profession and the many opportunities therein. The “Surviving The Journey” speaking tour began in January of this year and has picked up so much momentum the Mayor of Inglewood California will honor her with a commendation on July 31, 2012, at the Inglewood seminar which will take place at the Inglewood Main Library, 101 Manchester Blvd at 5:00 pm.
The goal of the “Surviving The Journey” speaking tour is to show single mothers and men the benefits of careers in nursing. “The reason I wanted to target single mothers is because many women feel their children are a hindrance to them going forward in pursuit of their professional goals, I want to show them how their children can be their motivation and I want to show men that nursing is no longer just a “female occupation.”
According to Minority Nurse.com there are approximately three million registered nurses in America, of that number only 168,000 are men. Because of the demand created by “Obamacare”
