"We wanted to have a well rounded show that includes nearly every genre. In addition to being well rounded by genre we wanted to show the talent of local bands from all over the Region. Including Springfield, Joplin, Kansas City, Arkansas, Kansas, and beyond. The we wanted to bring in some National and Regional acts from places like California, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, and Iowa. " Travis Holt an Event Coordinator stated.
This is an all ages festival. The festival will be host to free camping and free parking. "Camping is limited, there will be showers and coolers but no fires or loud noise." Travis Holt stated. Also inside the festival will be an inflatable carnival with rides like giant slip and slide, giant hamster balls, 65' obstacle course, three lane bungee run and more. Fun for both kids and adults.
The festivals proceeds will go towards the next years event, as well as some contributions will be made to The Silver Tour, Vote Hemp, Teapot Party, and NORML. The contributions will vary depending on the success of the event.
Speakers from all walks of life will be at the festival to promote the uses of Hemp and cannabis is food, law, and reform standpoints. "Springfield Hemp Fest is a platform, we want to make the platform as big as possible and then allow non-profits and groups to speak from the platform we have created. This allows us to concentrate on what we are good at, making events. While the pro-cannabis groups provide their expertise and come to gather signatures, provide speakers and information to the public. We do provide some education but mostly reach out to organizations like NORML and the Free Cannabis Project for help in that department."
