Maternity Clothes Brand Zoe Alexander UK meets former BBC's Dragon Richard Farleigh at KICC B2B.

July 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Maternity clothes brand Zoe Alexander UK directors Steve and Adriana were amongst the audience of business owners treated to an exciting, informative and extremely frank presentation by guest speaker Richard Farleigh on the highs and lows of his life to date, how he made his millions in his formative years in investment banking and the roller coaster of business life as a well known entrepreneur and investor since.

Richard didn't have the best of starts to life, being taken into foster care at the age of two, falling victim to measles and subsequently undergoing two eye operations to correct a turned eye for which he had to wear a patch up to the age of five.  Labelled backward due to shyness and a reluctance to speak, his luck changed in year five when a teacher saw in him an aptitude for maths that she felt would serve him well in the future.

He learned to play and fully embraced the game of chess at 12, a game he went on to master and represent Bermuda and Monaco at Chess Olympics.  He finished high school and went to study Economics at the University of New South Wales where he won a scholarship from a leading bank and graduated with a first class honours.

Following university, Richard joined a leading Australian investment bank where he was to go on and achieve top status and subsequently was headhunted by a Bermuda international hedge fund where he became star trader by 33, earning a salary of seven figures. At 34 he retired and moved to Monaco with his then wife Sharon and baby son Thomas.

Richard then spent his years focussed on building businesses, buying existing ones or investing in new start ups, initially in technology.  His financial buffer from his previous experience and fortune in trading served him well during the tough times of heavy losses.

In 2006 he came to our television screens as the lovely "Aussie" dragon on the BBC's Dragons' Den, who was always seen to be constructive and full of advice to those seeking his investment even when he chose not to invest.

To date he has been involved in some 80 or so businesses ranging from restaurants and tennis racquets to diamond mining.  He is an in demand entrepreneurial speaker and currently holds active interests in a number of companies and ventures.
