July 5, 2012 - PRLog -- SWEETWATER, Texas – A year and a half after opening, Shermco Industries’ Sweetwater office recently threw its long-awaited grand opening celebration.  The open house event was a customer appreciation barbeque for the company’s West Texas client base, and a big hit with close to 100 customers, employees and local businessmen that attended.

“This was a get together that we’ve wanted to do for a very long time,” said Casey Gilliam Shermco Sweetwater operations manager. “It was a ‘lunch and learn’ with two really good presentations, hot-off-the-grill steaks and the best chocolate and carrot cake around. I’m glad we waited to do this, because we’re now part of the community and everyone felt like a part of our Shermco family.”

The event featured a catered lunch and two presentations: “Motor and Generator Best Practices” by Casey Gilliam and “NERC/FERC Updates” by Mike Hancock. Sweetwater Mayor Greg Wortham was in attendance and TSTC brought a section of their training tower.  Guests also got a charge from the dirt track racecar which was on display.

“Sweetwater is very close to the west Texas wind market and this coincides great with our uptower wind and industrial services clients within the region, which is why we located here. This event was also great for us to give local industry a feel for all of our other capabilities,” said Scott Meador, Shermco Industries vice president of business development.
