Circulating the best solution for installers

July 5, 2012 - PRLog -- New EuP legislation will allow only the best of today’s A-labelled energy efficient circulators to be placed on the market as of 1 January 2013.

It is estimated that only 30% of standalone circulators sold at present will satisfy the new standards. The Grundfos Alpha2 and Magna do meet those demands. They are ready to save your customers up to 80% of their pump’s energy consumption, and are available at over 500 Plumb Center and Parts Center branches across the country.

The new legislation aims to replace less efficient pumps with more efficient models - particularly those that continue running even when a boiler is switched off. By 2020 the legislation will have helped to save the equivalent of the electrical consumption of 14 million households. This works out at 23 billion kWh. Some research suggests that householders can save more by replacing a circulator pump than they would by replacing a fridge.

The A-G energy label will no longer be relevant. By the turn of the year it will be replaced by a new set of European measurement standards for energy efficiency requirements, called the Energy Efficiency Index (EEI). EuP standalone circulators will be CE marked and carry their actual EEI on the name plate, which must not exceed a value of 0.27. The same will apply for product integrated circulators by 1 August 2015.
