The participants will be focusing on adopting techniques in the following areas: (1) how an SBDC Counselor organizes his/her time, (2) tips for effective consulting sessions, (3) how to develop an SBDC training program, (4) how to promote SBDC in the community (5) why do we operate specialized SBDCs. The overall objective of this 2nd modular training is to prepare SBDC professionals on how to manage their centers and how to deliver the counseling and training services for their small business clients.
In March of 2012, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Model was launched in Belize. This model was developed in the United States and the centers act as the main source of technical and managerial support assistance for small businesses, promoting growth, innovation, productivity and revenue expansion for small businesses. The SBDC model primarily promotes partnerships among public sector, private sector and academia as an integral success component. The SBDC Counselor and Director Certificate Training Program consist of 2 other modules which will be delivered over the upcoming months in Belize. Each module focuses on different aspects of the implementation of the SBDC.
