July 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Crowds turned out in all their finery for the St Austell Brewery Ladies’ Day at Newton Abbot Racecourse on Tuesday 26th June.  Despite the rain clouds threatening an appearance, the weather held out for another dry evening meeting at the South Devon racecourse.

In keeping with tradition, ladies donned their finest fashions to compete in the fashion stakes for the title of Best Dressed Lady and Best Hat.  Following last year’s introduction of the Best Dressed Gent competition, the racecourse again scoured the course to select the finalists for the highly-contested title.

Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at the racecourse said: “Once again, we were blown away by the effort made by racegoers.  Each year the judges have a very hard job to whittle down the thousands of attendees to pick the finalists for the Best Dressed competitions and this year was no exception”.

“The lucky racegoers who walked away with the coveted titles were Jenny Wainwright (Best Dressed Lady), Ingrid Antcliffe (Best Hat) and Graham Antcliffe (Best Dressed Gent).  All winners received tickets for a show at the Princess Theatre, Torquay, and individual prizes of a £100 voucher for Phase Eight, Clarks Village; £100 voucher for Beau Boutique, Yelverton; and a day’s brewing at St Austell Brewery respectively.”

Mr Masterson added: “Ladies’ Day always proves to be one of the most highly-anticipated fixtures in our racing season and I’m sure most would agree that this year did not disappoint.  I would like to once again thank our sponsors St Austell Brewery and all of the other companies who contributed to such a wonderful day.”

“Our thanks are also extended to all that joined us on Ladies’ Day and everyone who contributed to our charity raffle in aid of our chosen charity, Torbay Holiday Helpers Network, for which £1500 was raised.”

As the racecourse enters the second half of its season, racegoers have plenty to look forward to with the racecourse’s richest-ever fixture on August 4th, the Take That tribute concert on August 25th and, of course, Super Monday Specials 2-4-1 ticket promotion for all Monday fixtures.   Due to popular demand, the deadline for the fantastic £10 ticket offer for the August 4th fixture has now been extended to 13th July 2012.

Racing returns to Newton Abbot on Monday 9th July.  For tickets or further information about what’s happening at the racecourse over the coming months, please visit the website: www.newtonabbotracing.com.
