BUT this years show is a fashion show with a difference!
The "ILLUSION " fashion show is about so much more than just beautiful clothes on a
catwalk and beautiful models on the catwalk. The majority of us face adversity at some point in our lives and all too often the way we look on the outside dictates how we feel on the inside. Sadly the fashion industry has long been associated with the perfect image few feel they can attain, and is often blamed for the rise in body image problems. The majority of the models in the show have reached that point in their life and have an inspirational story to tell.
Simone Thomas, Owner & Director of MWAH Bournemouth in Westbourne (Make-up Wigs And Hair), who has faced her own hair loss issues in the past and fully understands the message behind the show is now one of the south’s leading names in make-up and hair loss solutions. Simone and her vastly experienced team, who themselves are experts in the art of airbrush makeup & hair styling will be transforming the models on the day,
some of whom have never modelled before into catwalk sensations. Simone states "Its always a pleasure to work at these events, the fact that two great charities are being supported and their causes championed makes it even more worthwhile to us" She goes on to say "Its always totally manic and hectic behind the scenes but the buzz and the feel good factor me and my team get when we see our models and our creations walk down the catwalk make it all worthwhile to us" ITV1 will also be there filming for a fantastic documentary as they follow Simone and her team at MWAH Bournemouth in Westbourne throughout the summer months.
Jason Edwards, head designer at Crystal Adonis is more than aware of the challenges faced every day that can be a pivotal point in someone’s life. He states, “Time and time again I see people reach that point whether it was my mother loosing her hair during chemotherapy, my sudden weight gain, a friends sudden weight loss, the death of a loved one, issues of race gender, sexuality or disfigurement. Societies attitude to the things we all face either breaks us ormakes us look deep inside, discover that inner beauty, self love and respect and find out what is truly important in our lives"
The two charities that are being supported by MWAH Bournemouth of Westbourne and Crystal Adonis are firstly, Help for Heroes, with whom many are familiar, they help to rehabilitate and enable many of our service men and women to find their inner confidence and get back to everyday life after the wide variety of challenges they face whilst serving in the name of Queen and country. The second charity is The Succeed Foundation, who are on a mission to break the negative cycle which leads to many eating disorders and create a standard approach for dealing with them. A selection of the bespoke one-off Swarovski crystal embellished items created for the show have been donated to raise funds for both charities.
