Auguste Dinoto has just released his new book, DARK DAWNING. In graphic detail the book depicts a great earthquake that strikes the Mid-East nations in the year 2030. A San Andreas-like ground fault forms beneath the oil fields of the Arabic nations, and 85% of the world’s oil supply is lost. With only 15% of the world’s fuel supply remaining, the price of gasoline fires up to thousands of dollars a gallon. The automobile industry collapses. Millions of people are thrown out of work, and bloody riots shake the country like never before. The federal government declares Martial Law. People are moved into living quads where power usage is strictly controlled and fuel-consuming vehicles are banned to the public. To see that fuel is fairly distributed throughout the country, the federal government forms an agency called, the Oil Appropriation Committee (OAC).
The book goes on to show that there will be political infighting between the oil rich southern states and the north. As tensions mount between the two factions, the OAC, federalizes all fuel producing companies, and forms a Gestapo-like police force called, Fledgling One.
The Democratic and Republican Parties become no more than pawns under the thumb of this powerful committee. Any delegates that disagree with the policies of the OAC will have their fuel shipments cut back or stopped altogether. And the United States degenerates into a society ruled by this committee.
The book is fiction, but it is also a warning. Earthquakes are the most frequently reoccurring natural disaster on the planet. One earthquake could easily destroy most of the world’s oil supply. But whether this happens or not, it is time to move away from a total dependency on oil to run the country. Fossil fuel is no more than a pool of oil in the ground. It is limited, and it is running out. In the past few years some advances have been made in the production of the electric car, but the automobile industry is only a small part of the equation. Cities, towns, ships, airlines, and all manufacturing depend on oil to run. Other sources of fuel should be seriously explored and expanded so that we can move away from a dependency on fossil fuel. If we don’t, we will stay tied to oil as the only source of energy to run the country, and it when it runs out, the country will degenerate into a society that is run by those that control the remaining oil supply… and freedom in America will become a thing of the past.
