The result was a solid 1-0 victory as Boca closed out its 2012 home schedule with now having one last road match this coming week at Fullerton
By: San Diego Boca FC San Diego Boca FC Head Coach Karim Ben Mazouk commented, "Tonight we played a much different Phoenix side that we had played earlier in the year as the club has made number changes with its players and even its coach. Knowing this prior to kickoff we knew we needed to be on our toes and play our game. Although we scored in the first half and had numerous opportunities, we got away from our ground game a bit in the last 20 minutes of the half which did not please me. We discussed our necessary adjustments at halftime in terms of getting back to our one and two touch game and the boys responded. I am happy we got the three points and moved up the ladder in the standings again. Now we have to get ready for a tough match next week against Fullerton." In goal, San Diego Boca FC split time between both Myles Frederick who started the first half and then 18 year-old Sebastian Ortiz jumped into the next to handle second half duties in the net. Both keepers played solid as Boca's defense essentially handled and managed the Phoenix attack. Offensively, Michael Perez and Geo Sandez did a good job in the second half maintaining the midfield for Boca creating numerous scoring opportunities for Boca feeding forwards Gabriel Buckson and Brett Haas. After the game, the club announced that both Gabriel Buckson and Mustafa Samatar will be leaving Boca back to Switzerland to start the European winter season as both players are expected back for the 2013 season.
