July 2, 2012 - PRLog -- The Patriarchs have what it takes to drag the age challenged masses out of their comfy lounge chairs and into those old black jeans and paisley shirts to stand on the sticky carpet again.
The Patriarchs play a brand of original music that is reminiscent of the great Aussie pub bands of the late 70’s and early eighties. Where bands where not measured by the amount of air time, their YouTube pranks or the amount of chatter on the twitter-verse, but the power and enthusiasm that could be generated in the middle of summer in a crowded band room, where the sweat dripped from the ceiling and walls.
The band was formed back in 2008 and has now become a pivotal representation of Northern Beach indie music with an extremely polished repertoire of originals. The band also have a comprehensive list of party songs to go along with their core set of original numbers, the band are playing live and have received recent air time as winners of the first round of the International band competition, Emergenza.
The band’s first gig back in 2008 was a 50th birthday party in the backyard of a friend and was closed down by the police at 10:30, with the comment from the Police, “the sound was “Obscene”. The band knew then they we were rock & roll and forced our way into the local venue’s on the Northern beaches, playing the old Fisho’s, with the highlight supporting “Mental as Anything” to excellent reviews. Since the Fisho’s closed down and relocated, we have done gigs at the Annandale Hotel, The Lair along with promoting and running our own nights at the local surf club and have been gathering a core following.
The Patriarchs live show is an interesting and lively cornucopia of original energy driven songs with the line-up offering a sound that gives our listeners an alternative rock sound. The boys start the night with the funk rock original Sandman then their perennial favourite Girl Twister, an anthem of the Go-Go Grunge style they have been developing and will kick on with their original set until completing the night with, "Don’t Tear it down" in honour of the old Fisho’s, the original bastion of independent rock music, with the crowd up and moving and hopefully shouting for more.
You can check out our songs on our MySpace site which has some video footage.
