2012 Taste of the World Art Contest Now Accepting Entries

The Second Annual Art Contest supporting the 2012 Taste of the World Charlotte is now taking entries, with prizes including $500 and an Exhibition. The theme is the Taste of the World and is open to artists representing all cultures.

PRLog - July 1, 2012 - CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte, NC – The 2012 Taste of the World is accepting entries for its Annual Art Contest running from July 1 through August 31, 2012. The theme is the “Taste of the World” in support of the taste tour event hosted by the non-profit organization Eastland Area Strategies Team (E.A.S.T). This will be the 10th Taste of the World event and was created to support E.A.S.T.’s mission of working towards the recommended goals of the Eastland Area Plan. This event emphasizes many of the cultures that have settled in the east Charlotte area and takes guests on an eclectic food expedition reflecting cultures from all over the world. The Taste of the World Art Contest is entering its second year as part of the event, and artists from all cultures & backgrounds are encouraged to enter.

Each of the five finalists will be announced and have a special feature on the Taste of the World Facebook page beginning September 5. All finalists & the winner will also be featured in a special Exhibition at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center. The winner will be awarded $500 and be officially announced on the Taste of the World Facebook Page on October 1. The winning entry will be presented prominently on an easel at the Taste of the World event on October 4. This winning piece will also be used in the Taste of the World program and any other promotional material in relation to Taste of the World.

Artists can submit one or more pieces of artwork. Each entry should be sent separately via email with the attached image file to TOTWartcontest@gmail.com. The subject line of the email should state "TOTW Art Contest." The image file should be a JPEG less than 2MB in size and at a resolution of 72dpi (at 5 x 7 inches or 7 x 5 inches approximately). The image must be in the proper viewing orientation. The image file should be titled with the artist's first and last name. An example is john_doe.jpg. In the body of the email, each artist should give their name, title of artwork, year completed, medium and dimension (H x W). The contest is free to enter, and all entries must be sent in by 11:59 PM EST on August 31, 2012.
