National Black Marathoners Association Select the 2013 Sunshine Insurance Marathon Bahamas

July 1, 2012 - PRLog -- DALLAS, TX – The National Black Marathoners Association (NBMA) will host its Second Annual International Gathering at the Sunshine Insurance Race Weekend (SIRW) from January 19 through 20, 2013 in Nassau, Bahamas. The NBMA serves as a vehicle for Black men and women to meet en masse to run 10K’s, half marathons, and marathons, since 2005.

Pamela Richardson, race director for the event, excitedly:  "SIRW is flattered to have been chosen, by the NBMA, for their Second Annual International running event.  Held in the historic city of Nassau, SIRW  is the ideal international winter running event - where one come to participate and share camaraderie but also use the opportunity, with family and friends, as a run-cation in The Bahamas."

"We're really looking forward to our gathering in Nassau," said Tony Reed, executive director of the National Black Marathoners Association. "Several of our members have spoken very highly of this event and we're looking forward to participating next year."

The NBMA provides scholarships to a deserving high school male and female distance runners each year. Their participants will wear red or lime green running jerseys and black shorts to symbolize their membership. The organization has members in 43 states and five countries.
