The 4th of July celebration on Fort Myers Beach will be taking place on the actual Independence Day holiday, Wednesday, July 4, 2012.  The festivities will begin with a parade along the streets of Fort Myers Beach, which is scheduled to run for about an hour and a half.  The bridge from Fort Myers onto Estero Island will close to traffic at 9:30am, and is then scheduled to reopen at around 12:00pm.   The beautiful fireworks display will begin at dusk, with fireworks launched over the Gulf from the famous Fort Myers Beach Pier.  Observers will have a nice view of the fireworks from the shores of Fort Myers Beach, from rooftop bars, or even from the private patios of most vacation rental properties. The main bridge onto the beach will also be closed to traffic just prior to the start of the fireworks, and will remain closed throughout the show’s entirety, which is scheduled to last approximately 30 - 45 minutes.
