As announced earlier in the season, Newton Abbot will host a fully self-funded fixture with a guaranteed prize fund of £100,000 on Saturday 4th August.
To mark the occasion, the racecourse is running a £10 ticket promotion for all tickets booked before the deadline of 4th July 2012.
Reduced from the standard Paddock Enclosure ticket price of £18, the promotional ticket will give all racegoers the opportunity to see the top horses up-close in the Parade Ring and watch them thunder towards the winning post from the Paddock Enclosure grandstand.
Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot, explained the decision to launch the self-funded August fixture: “Due to the enforced changes in the racing calendar, Newton Abbot was scheduled to have a period of one month with no fixtures between the end of July and end of August.”
“With the school holidays falling in this period, the racecourse always benefits from the thousands of holidaymakers who visit the South West during the school break. Alongside the month-long gap in the racing calendar, the timing of the subsequent fixtures meant that the annual two-day Summer Festival weekend, traditionally held at the end of August, would not be possible this year.”
“The decision was therefore made to host a self-funded fixture on August 4th to bridge the gap. With a guaranteed prize fund of at least £100k for the day, we hope to see some of the best horseracing in the country take place at Newton Abbot.”
“To further mark the occasion, we have launched the £10 ticket offer for the August 4th fixture to encourage as many people as possible to share in the excitement of the day’s action.”
The promotional tickets are now on sale from the racecourse and are available until July 4th. After this point tickets will remain on sale at the standard price for Course and Paddock tickets.
As per all fixtures, under 16s and students showing a valid student or NUS card can gain free entry.
Tickets can be purchased direct from the racecourse office, online at www.newtonabbotracing.com or by calling 01626 353 235.
