Among the numerous projects F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems has been awarded throughout 2012 is the BP-Whiting Refinery Modernization project in Whiting, IN. This $3.8 billion, 4+ year project has over 10,000 trades people working to complete the largest private investment in Indiana history. With nearly 20 million man hours estimated by the finish of this project, it is one of the largest projects ever done under a National Maintenance Agreement. F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems utilized their sophisticated AutoCad 3-D modeling software design to route the fire suppression systems, and employed highly skilled union craftsman to install the deluge piping. Mr. James Bouche, Project Manager for the BP project said, “Moran’s field crew felt right at home in one of the most challenging, logistically intense projects in the country.” To facilitate construction, F.E. Moran Special Hazard Systems employed a modularized approach. They fabricated multiple deluge valve enclosures, including pre-piped deluge valve headers in Galveston, TX and floated the completed enclosures by barge to the Whiting site.
