June 27, 2012 - PRLog -- THE WARTBURG CELEBRATES
20TH ANNUAL PASSAVANT SOCIETY LUNCHEON

(MOUNT VERNON, NY) The Wartburg Foundation held its annual Passavant Society and Benefactors luncheon on Wednesday, June 20th.

According to David Gentner, President & CEO of The Wartburg, “In 1992 The Wartburg Foundation created The Passavant Society to honor Wartburg Founder William Alfred Passavant’s rich legacy by recognizing friends who have named the Wartburg as a beneficiary in their estate plans. This annual luncheon is a celebration of love and gratitude to these generous donors, and recognition of today’s benevolent members.”

Randall Fairhurst, Chairman of The Wartburg Foundation continued, “The long tradition of planned giving that built and sustained The Wartburg for over a century is no less important today.  We will continue to adapt and grow as the needs of our community change, calling for just not financial stability, but for a health endowment that can provide for capital projects, projects that require quick turnaround, financial aid for those in need, and much more.”

Wartburg Board Member and former Wartburg Foundation President, Edgar Myers ,served as Master of Ceremonies of the wonderful event, where the newly inducted Passavant Society members received their elegant Passavant medals. Recipients included Wartburg’s very own Pastor Reverend Carol E.A. Fryer with her husband Reverend Gregory Fryer, and Wartburg’s Chief Financial Officer Mark Hammond.

Also at the event, President Gentner revealed the architectural model of the Rehabilitation and Adult Care Services Center currently being constructed  (along with the Friedrich’s Residence) on the Wartburg’s 34-acre campus in Mount Vernon.

The afternoon’s program included a comprehensive presentation of the current and new Wartburg initiatives where many of the programs, projects and events were celebrated and explained to the audience. The innovations, new construction, and broadened outreach to the community surely demonstrated why U.S. News & World Report has recognized The Wartburg as one of the “Best Nursing Homes in New York State”, and a recent article in The New York Times acknowledged The Wartburg’s vision in meeting the many needs of our senior citizens.
