The community healthcare service will supply community support workers and nurses to care for people who suffer from long term illnesses or have recently left hospital and need caring closer to home. HCL Nursing Managing Director Helen Rudanec says the holistic package will essentially be a ‘one stop shop’ for quality community care.

We have identified the need for support and care within the community and this healthcare service will support Trusts with already limited resources to deliver quality care for patients both in and out of hospital,” Ms Rudanec said.
A recent report by the Stroke Association revealed that a lack of post-hospital care means stroke survivors are not recovering as they should. More than a third of survivors had not been assessed on their health and care needs to help them with their recovery and more than half of people who had suffered a stroke in the last three years had been assessed only once.
“Around 150,000 Britons suffer strokes annually and over one million live with the after-effects. Without vital assessments, patients are missing out on the best possible recovery. This community healthcare service aims to partner with UK Trusts, enabling hospitals to discharge patients safely and with the knowledge they will be properly cared for in the safety of their own home. This strategy will benefit the patient and free-up beds in hospital needed for clinical acute sector resources.
