Hardy and Helms were in town to finalize the details for a 30-Minute ‘Friend VS Friend’ Iron-Man Match. The match was scheduled to take place at a Winston Salem, NC wrestling event this November. The promoter was Winston Salem entrepreneur, best-selling author, Tracy Myers.
A witness to the incident, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that Tracy Myers “was jumped from behind and never had a chance. Even with Shane and Matt sitting next to him, it was nearly impossible for anyone to do anything. It happened so fast. They attackers were there and then they were gone. It makes no sense to me.”
The 3 wrestlers who did the alleged attacking were former wrestling champ and ECW/WWE Superstar CW Anderson, former TNA TV Champ and current Impact star Gunner and former Hardcore Champion and WCW star Lodi. Lodi was also a member of the popular wrestling stable Raven’s Flock.
A call placed to a representative for the 3 wrestlers was not immediately answers.
Tracy Myers, the founder and promoter of the upcoming WrestleCade event, was treated for minor injuries at the scene but was not taken to the hospital. The injuries were reported as bruised ribs and a small cut to the head.
Myers, following the advice of his Attorney, decided not to issue a statement today. However, his Team has scheduled a press conference for tomorrow (June 27) at 1pm EST. The contract signing between Helms and Hardy was also indefinitely postponed.
