Chip Miceli of Des Plaines Office Equipment elected President of national Select Dealer Group

Miceli will serve a term as the President of the Board of Directors of the Select Dealer Group, a national trade organization of industry peers whose membership draws from leading office product/service dealers across the country.
 
June 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Des Plaines Office Equipment (DPOE) President Chip Miceli of Palatine, IL has been elected to a term as President of the Select Dealer Group (SDG), a national trade organization of industry peers whose membership draws from leading office product/service dealers across the country with a goal of benchmarking their industry and sharing best practices.

In this capacity, he will work with the Board of Directors of this national organization to assist in its continued growth and visibility, and in shaping the objectives of the group. SDG began with 10 founding members and has nearly 50 of the most successful and innovative dealers in the United States.

The Select Dealer Group is affiliated with BTA (Business Technology Association) of Kansas City. BTA is a trade organization that supports the Select Dealer Group with administrative functions. The group meets at various dealer locations throughout the United States, four times a year, and has held meetings in Denver, Dallas, Chicago, Boston, Miami, San Francisco, Minnesota, Las Vegas, Savannah, Washington DC., Utah, Cincinnati and California’s Napa Valley.

Miceli has worked with some of the members of SDG on print management, an area where he is viewed as an industry expert, and he expects that one of the next sweeping changes across the industry will be with Managed Network Services (incorporating IT into the menu of services that equipment/office product dealers offer).

“Our industry is going through many changes, and there is a strong need for a forum where leaders can meet, brainstorm and exchange ideas with the goal of providing even better service to our individual customers as a result of our effort,” he said. “We look forward to expanding the membership base and learning from each other.”

Miceli said that one of the key advantages of an organization such as SDG is that the office equipment dealers can talk with others in their industry and gain, as well as provide, insight in a non-competitive atmosphere. “There are times when business owners seek advice from someone who has ‘been there’ in the industry, and understands the unique circumstances that we face,” said Miceli, who added, “In addition to advice on business practices, we work together to upgrade and improve our industry, because when one person in the industry benefits, we all do.”  

Miceli is well-known in his industry. He has authored articles in various national publications, including Office Technology, is a frequently quoted source on the topic of print management. His Chicago area company is viewed as a leader in the industry, also.

Miceli, who resides in Palatine, IL, is the President of Des Plaines Office Equipment. He is active, in his spare time, as a Boy Scout leader.

Fellow SDG member Ray Belanger, who is president of a Boston area document management firm and is a former President of the SDG, said, “Chip is an undisputed industry leader and a real take-charge type of person.
