Preston Street Primary kids and Castle Rock Edinvar staff dig in to help community

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun. 26, 2012 - The Crags Sports Centre, which has one of the largest games halls in the city, a dance studio and an open-access outdoor kick pitch, re-opened in January this year as a social enterprise.  The Centre had closed down in 2011, is now run by a new charity set up by Castle Rock Edinvar Housing Association, Boroughmuir Blaze Basketball Club and basketballscotland with a focus on long term sustainability.  

Simon Turner, Development Manager at The Crags said:
“Preston Street Primary was involved right from the beginning of the Crags so it’s been great to welcome them back to the Centre this year. When the whole school pack out the Crags every Thursday morning for PE there’s a real buzz in the building and we’re delighted to get behind their Health Week too.”

Marian MacDonald of the Engine Shed said;
“We are delighted to participate in Preston Street Health week and it is very exciting to be part of this community initiative. As an established local organisation with the focus of producing healthy wholefood products we welcome the chance to work in partnership with other groups and individuals in the south side to make this an enjoyable and healthy experience for the children. We are keen to develop mutually supportive links with the range of people actively working to develop services in the area.”

Plants for the new garden have been donated by Homebase.
