As world unemployment rises, the fun indoor attraction aimed at children aged 3 - 10 years is offering the opportunity of a lifetime to snap up a summer job playing with LEGO all day.
Worldwide, teams running the attractions are looking to inject a little excitement whilst also inviting children and parents to think about the importance of looking to the future from an early age. What better way than by showing them that working life can be fun!
The Manchester attraction is looking to appoint ten young entertainers, model builders and operations experts to join a global team to help run the eight attractions over the summer holidays.
Successful candidates will spend time during their summer holidays on work placements, shadowing job roles such as the unique Master Model Builder – who is responsible for developing new LEGO models, running workshops, and maintaining the Centre's 2 million LEGO bricks! Additional activities that the MINI APPRENTICES may participate in include presenting a Factory Tour – a show highlighting how LEGO bricks are made, checking the speed of the slides in the soft play area, plus testing the pedals on the LEGO police jeeps!
Children aged 3 - 10 years must submit a video CV via the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre's Youtube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/
Applicants will then be shortlisted, with a final team of 10 per Centre crowned the prestigious title of being a LEGOLAND Discovery Centre MINI APPRENTICE!
A range of top application tips and pointers will be available on the Facebook page, reminding applicants of the importance of dress and appearance in making a first impression, and of course the skills required by candidates looking for a career in playing with LEGO bricks!
General Manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester, Neil Crittenden, commented on the search: “Whilst this is ultimately of course a unique fun opportunity for a group of very lucky children, our search will also highlight the basic steps of the job application process, which is surely something that can never be undertaken too young. There will be a prize for all applications received, rewarding all children for taking part.”
Applications will be accepted from Friday June 1st until Friday 13th July, with the successful applicants completing work placements during July and August.
