Steve Guttenberg on The Jimmy Star Show
Steve Guttenberg is an American actor, director, and producer known internationally for starring in numerous blockbuster films such as Three Men and a Baby, Short Circuit, Police Academy, and Ron Howard’s Cocoon and their sequels. With over 52 projects to his credit, Steve Guttenberg is renown for his comedy and dramatic chops in film and television, as well as on stage.
Steve Guttenberg’s critically acclaimed projects include dramatic hits such as Barry Levinson’s Diner, Franklin Schaffner’s The Boys from Brazil and Curtis Hanson’s Bedroom Window. Guttenberg’s The Poseidon Adventure, a three hour Hallmark special on NBC became the highest rated television movie in over two years and received more enthusiastic reviews than the big screen remake which followed it. Additionally, his Single Santa Christmas specials established themselves as the two highest rated productions ever for The Hallmark Channel. In television, he earned great reviews for his recurring guest star appearances on the hit show Veronica Mars and his playful appearance on Party Down. He has starred in many of television’s most honored and most-watched projects, including The Day After, a post-nuclear war thriller, which is the second highest rated television film drama ever and the only one of the top five all-time highest rated drama evenings that was not an episode of a smash hit mini-series. He has a number of directorial efforts, including P.S., Your Cat Is Dead, the film version of the respected James Kirkpatrick play which Guttenberg also starred in, wrote and produced.
With all of his successful film and television work the project that remains close to his heart is the Guttenhouse project. Steve has initiated the Guttenhouse project to house selected kids who are phased out of foster care programs and would otherwise wind up on the streets with no housing and no direction. His first Guttenhouse has accommodated a half dozen kids for varying lengths of time for the past seven years, giving each private bedrooms, use of computer equipment, regular oversight by a trained social worker and Steve’s own mentoring. He is currently working to create his next complex to provide safe housing and sound social direction to help the former foster kids stay off of the streets.
Well regarded by young people and adults alike, now Steve Guttenberg is appearing in the family film I Heart Shakey 3D as ”Sgt. Stubbs,” a seemingly ‘Semper Fi do or die’ type with a lifetime history of army recruiting, who just may be nuts.
I Heart Shakey 3D
I Heart Shakey is a family film about a 35-year-old widower named J.T. O’Neil (Steve Lemme of Super Troopers, Beerfest), his precocious 10-year-old daughter Chandler (12 year old phenom Rylie Jo Behr) and their devoted mutt Shakey. After moving from a small town to Chicago and missing the fine print in their rental contract, J.T. is forced to try and get rid of his lovable pooch. Shakey and Chandler won’t have it and hatch a plan to keep Shakey and teach J.T. a valuable lesson about loyalty and the importance of keeping family together.
I Heart Shakey is written by Kevin Cooper and Eric Stolze and is directed by Kevin Cooper. The film also stars Steve Guttenberg (Short Circuit, Police Academy), Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation films), and Alfonso Arau (Three Amigos, Like Water for Chocolate).
