June 25, 2012 - PRLog -- MIAMI, June 25, 2012  – Miami women's small business coach Kay Richardson, an idea and marketing strategist, graduated  cum laude from Keiser University with a bachelor of science degree in June.  She said her motivation to complete this degree came from her drive to set an example for her two sons and to encourage teen mothers to believe that they can achieve their goals regardless of obstacles.. Richardson was a teenage mother who graduated from high school pregnant and unsure of her future.
“I have experienced self-doubt, rejections and road blocks in my life raising a child as a very young single mother. But I kept pursuing my dreams. The three things that brought me to my achievements, which include founding a Miami women's business coaching firm, Freedom To Be Me, and a consulting business in ergonomics, both before age 30, were determination, perseverance and wanting more for me and my two sons,” said  Richardson. Her  older son, James Richardson III, graduated from Monsignor Edward Pace High School two weeks before his mother and will attend Elmhurst University in Illinois.
“It is critical never to become complacent when you know you can achieve more,” is one key message Richardson shares as a women's business coach and motivational speaker at Cope High School."
Richardson serves as a motivational speaker to teenage mothers at Cope High School in Miami because she  understands their challenges speaking about perseverance, self-confidence and career choices. She plans to launch Another-Chance, an organization to award teenage mothers college scholarships and assistance to become entrepreneurs.
"I know that not every young lady has the resources to attend college without financial assistance. Others may have a strong desire to establish their own businesses and need a mentor instead. I hope the young women we help will mentor teens in the future, too," she said. She doesn't want teen mothers to feel like that they don’t have “another chance. Teenage mothers do have a second chance – they just need mentoring and guidance when they can’t figure things out. I wish there had been a program for me as a teen to speak with someone who understood my challenges and frustration!”
Richardson grew up in Miami and launched her first small business as an occupational therapist and certified ergonomic consultant more than 10 years ago. As an ergonomics consultant she consulted with  local  and state governments, Adobe, Cargill and other private companies. She has spoken throughout Florida as an ergonomics expert and been featured and quoted in articles and publications. Richardson says her first business taught her how to market on shoestring budgets and the importance of selling without fear. She works with other entrepreneurs as a Miami marketing and business coach and wants to teach other single moms how to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams. She is the founder of  Women in Business Event for women entrepreneurs.
