Not long until the doors open to a new way of learning in the City

A new college of Higher Education is to open in Coventry that caters for people seeking a value for money education

June 25, 2012 - PRLog -- In September, Coventry University College will be opening its doors to a new way of learning in the City.

Coventry University College, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coventry University, is ideally situated in the heart of the University campus in Coventry City Centre and will be offering a more flexible approach to Higher Education and professional development.

John Dishman, the Director and Chief Executive of the College, said:

“This is an exciting time for Higher Education in Coventry. We saw a need to offer university level courses of high quality at a competitive price and we believe this is what we will be delivering.

“The focus of our courses is on career development and our part-time degree and professional courses have been especially developed for learning while you work. We have been talking to employers in Coventry to make sure the courses and the study times are flexible enough for employees to fit in around their working life.”

All of the teaching at Coventry University College for part-time courses has been designed to be delivered as a mix of face-to-face teaching and online delivery to make fitting study around work a lot easier.

John Dishman added:

“Before we decided on the delivery of our part-time degree and professional courses, we did our research by speaking to prospective students and employers and we believe our part-time courses are not only highly accessible, but competitively priced as well.

“Employers are supportive of part-time, HE study programmes for their staff  because it not only improves overall performance of the company, but the workforce gain better job-related skills, productivity is increased and key staff are retained.

“An added bonus for employers supporting part-time education within the workforce is that that it minimises absence from work, as individuals invest their own time to study.”

Students on part-time HE courses have a choice of studying on two evenings each week or on Saturdays with the remaining classes delivered online. The timetable includes online tutorials early in the morning in a pre-work session and online tutor support on Sunday.

Professional courses are available in the evenings, Saturdays and during the day.

These courses are short and intensive, so people can come to the College, get their qualifications and continue with their busy lives.

For anyone wishing to find out more about the full-time, part-time and professional qualification courses at Coventry University College, the next Open Day is on Saturday 14 July at 10am in the Alan Berry Building, Coventry University Campus (opposite the Cathedral steps).
