The first presentation in the Fundamentals of Film series is Musicals on Film: From Broadway to Hollywood…and Back, on Saturday, July 7 at 8 p.m. in the Bhetty Waldron Theatre at Actor’s Rep, 1009 North Dixie Highway, in downtown West Palm Beach.
The series developer and host is Caroline Breder-Watts, a veteran of local public radio and a film historian and lecturer.
The evening will feature clips from such classic films as "Singin’ in the Rain," "Showboat," "Oklahoma!,"
Tickets for The Fundamentals of Film are $10, and can be purchased at the box office one hour prior to the start of the event. For more information, call 561-543-8455.
According to Ms. Breder-Watts, “Film is our most popular art form, and there’s so much to learn from its more than 100-year history. I look forward to sharing these clips with young people who may be seeing them for the first time, but the series will also provide special evenings for adults who have fond memories of the times they have spent in movie theatres.”
“For acting students, learning about film is a very important part of their growth and development”
