PRLog - June 25, 2012 - CARLISLE, Pa. -- Since 2001 the Carlisle GM Nationals have aimed to be the preeminent stop for fans of the GM brand and as the 12th event has come and gone, the weekend once again proved its worth. Over 100 years of GM history was on display, ranging from an early 1900's Carter Car to a modern day 2013 Camaro. The cars, new and old, served as a great centerpiece to an always-popular family-themed weekend.

The new Camaro and rides like it were made to feel right at home as part of the ever-popular show within a show, Camaros at Carlisle. As part of the Camaro showfield, cash awards were presented, totaling $3,500, including a $1,000 Best-of-Show award. The Carmaro cars not only were on display, but were in action too as part of free onsite autocross ridealongs courtesy of Hotchkis Performance Products. John Hotchkis himself was available to answer consumer questions as to how his suspension system operates on muscle from yesterday and today.
In addition to the multigenerational showfield, seminars, special displays, live music and family activities like monster truck rides via the Shell-Camino were on the forefront. The weekend launched at 7 a.m. Friday, but sped forward beginning at 4 p.m. with the first-ever Friday Blues and BBQ Welcome Party. Also on Friday at nearby Quarter Aces Drag-O-Way, drag racing took place featuring local and regional drivers.
Saturday hosted more live music with country act Jason Sturgeon, a handful of Cacklefest sessions with Bruce Larson at Performance Point and great GM specific seminars. The day wrapped with the always exciting burnout contest, following by the Miss Carlisle Beauty Pageant. Much like the beauty on and around the Red 102.3 main stage Saturday, the weekend showcased power and elegance GM style from start to finish.
The Sunday awards parade wrapped the event, while additional autocross ridealong sessions and monster truck rides took place. The weekend also featured a trio of giveaways that were awarded. Saturday saw a 409 cubic inch engine courtesy of Auto Enthusiast and a Bondurant Driving School certificate given away, while an iPad served as the prize of Sunday's activities. Next year's event is already in the planning stages so be sure to circle the date on your calendar, June 21-23, 2013.
