June 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Aon today also released its 2012 Global Citizenship Report, which presents the full scope of the firm's ability to empower results for clients, colleagues and communities around the world. The report highlights Aon's mission and social benefit, the work it performs on behalf of clients, its focus on ethics, governance and sustainability, and its global charitable contributions.

As part of the firm's global mission, Aon's company-wide service day provides colleagues with the opportunity to take time off from their work to engage in local charitable activities that benefit their communities. These activities and programs focus on providing assistance to local organizations that empower people and serve communities at risk. Aon conducted similar company-wide service days in 2007 to celebrate its 20th anniversary and in 2010 to commemorate the launch of the firm's role as principal partner and global shirt sponsor of Manchester United.

"The core of any corporation's citizenship is how its business contributes to society and especially to the communities where its employees live and work," said Greg Case, Aon plc president and chief executive officer. "Aon's Global Service Day celebrates how our colleagues around the world come together for one purpose: to empower results for clients, colleagues and communities.

"Aon's global citizenship report demonstrates how our colleagues are united in our business, our values and our giving. By helping clients manage two of the most important issues in the global economy today – risk and people – Aon colleagues have a daily, positive impact on their communities and on our society as a whole."

Aon's 2012 Global Citizenship Report describes how the firm, through The Aon Foundation, its global partnership with Manchester United and the powerful spirit of volunteerism of Aon's colleagues, contributes time, expertise and funding to global, national and local philanthropic organizations.  Examples range from local orphanages in Kenya and food banks in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to global organizations such as the Red Cross and Red Crescent, United Way and UNICEF.

As part of Global Service Day, colleagues will contribute to these and other organizations:

Bermuda – Working with the Eliza DoLittle Society and the Bermuda National Trust to cook meals for the homeless and performing weeding and planting activities at a nature reserve
Canada – Supporting food banks and soup kitchens with collections and volunteer support in Calgary, Montreal, Nova Scotia, Sarnia, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg
