NHS granted a license to copy ?

June 25, 2012 - PRLog -- The duel with England is not only happening on the football pitch but also on the web: an Italian company found itself deprived of its trademark (myHealthbox) by a British company (Slam) operating in the same field of digital solutions for the healthcare (mHealth).

The British company has not even bothered to check whether the trademark in question (myHealthbox) was already registered and used safely shielded by its partnership with Microsoft HealthVault and media exposure granted by the opening of the new service by the Health minister Lord Howe.

Faced with complaints from the Italian company, the British have displayed a formidable defence constituted by the famous (and expensive) London law firm Bates Wells & Braithwaite that, in pure Anglo-Saxon style, have claimed the invalidity of the European trademark.

Perhaps the English feel less and less European these days, or they simply have a license to copy?
