Follow on Google News | Seven Artists, Five Labels, Two ReleasesAltered Moods Recordings and Deep Explorer Music Do Two At A Time
By: Altered Moods Recording The crew at Altered Moods, Malcolm Moore and Debra Jones-Davis, contributed mightily to this joint release, with Moore putting his touches on both albums. First, on the Deep Explorer release, "Love and Rhythm," Moore and Jones-Davis join forces on "Love (A Perilous Thing)”, with Jones-Davis purring her own lyrics over Moore's composition. Then, Jenifa Mayanja of Bu Mako Recordings takes that cut for an abstract spin with her remix. Finally, Bjak (aka Brian Cullen) of RealDEEP Recordings rounds out the release with his cuts, “Rhythm of Love” and “Purple Fire”. Dubbyman marks the eponymous first cut with "Love's All Right" and his partner in music (and brother) Above Smoke (Javier Alvarez) puts the deep touches on the Above Smoke Dub Remix of the same track. Mr. Done! brings us "Diamond" (vinyl edit), and Amir Alexander (of Vanguard Sound) wraps it up with "Woozy!" The fruits of nearly three years of labor, "Love's All Right" and "Love and Rhythm" fulfill the promise (as stated in the interview) of "partnerships, not alliances." Read the interview at alteredmoods.org and see how the two producers met, how their views on the music world align (it's about the music) and why they work so well together. As Dubby says at the close of the interview, "Bang! About the Love." End
