June 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Calinana, founded by Ainat Altarac in January 2010, was born from the idea of taking nature’s most basic elements and transforming them into stylish pieces that let every woman express her inner self.  After researching production methods both at home and abroad, Calinana decided to move their entire operation to Irvine, CA in the heart of Orange County.

“We want to be a locally owned and locally produced company that contributes to the local economy”, said owner Ainat Altarac. A lot of other jewelry companies outsource their production and don’t hire local employees to save money on costs.  We want to be part of the social fabric of Orange County and let our prospective customers and partners know that everything we make and do is Orange County produced.

Calinana is part of a growing trend of locally owned businesses that make all their products locally and refuse to outsource to places like China and India.  Calinana recognizes that the spirit of southern California and Orange County infuses their work and that something is lost when production moves outside the region.  “Giants like Oakley and Billabong started small and created local products here in Orange County.  We may never grow as big as those companies but our aspirations and dedication to Orange County culture are the same, “ said Ainat.
