Girls between 4th and 12th Grades are Invited to Attend
By: Blue Chip Bound Young Williams has lectured at numerous basketball camps throughout the country and co-authored a basketball training manual for girls titled, “She's Got Game”. Young Williams, and her staff of experienced clinicians, have developed Blue Chip Bound camps to focus on individualized skill instruction, as well as, team concepts in a fun and competitive environment. “I had the wonderful opportunity to coach this past season in the La Canada Spartans League and I listened to parents' requests to have a summer camp for their daughters. After doing much research, I realized that there aren’t many camps in the La Canada or Los Angeles area just for girl basketball players. There is definitely a void that we hope to fill,” said Young Williams. Blue Chip Bound FUNDAMENTALS camp is for players entering the 4th to 8th grades. Blue Chip Bound ELITE Camp is for players entering the 9th to 12th grades. The Blue Chip Bound FUNDAMENTALS Camp is designed to help younger players of all levels improve their basic skills and understand the strategies in the game of basketball. The FUNDAMENTALS camp teaches basic basketball skills, sportsmanship and team concepts. Dribbling, passing, rebounding, footwork and shooting will be taught, including an emphasis on utilizing proper techniques. The Blue Chip Bound ELITE camp is designed for older players who love the game and desire to learn what it takes to get to the next competitive level. ELITE campers learn pressure ball-handling, triple threat, post moves, rebounding, court spacing, passing, footwork and shooting, with an emphasis on individual defensive techniques. Both camps will have visiting lecturers to motivate the players. “One of my day jobs is that of a motivational speaker and I began this vocation in high school when I was called upon to encourage younger players to work hard every day. Basketball has been a huge part of my life and establishing Blue Chip Bound seems like a great fit at this time,” said Young Williams. The FUNDAMENTAL camp will be housed at the Glendale YMCA and the ELITE camp will be held at the Altadena Seven Day Adventist Community Center. Girls from the entire Los Angeles community, and beyond, are invited to participate. Both camps are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm with convenient early drop-offs at 8:30. The all day fee is $325 and the half-day (1:00 pm to 5:00 pm) fee is $225. Breakfast and lunch are offered at an additional fee.
