June 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC – (June 22, 2012) – Donald A. Thompson Jr., President and CEO of I-Cubed, recently delivered the commencement speech to the 2012 graduates of North Carolina State’s Computer Science Program. The ceremony, which was held in the Hope Community Church auditorium, conferred 185 degrees, and was witnessed by more than 1,200 relatives and guests.

“We are honored to have Donald Thompson Jr. deliver the keynote at our Spring 2012 Diploma Ceremony,” says Ken Tate, Director of Development and External Relations for NC State’s Computer Science Department, “Under Donald’s leadership, I-Cubed has been a valued ePartner with our department for many years providing our students with valuable project and career opportunities.”

Thompson is personally involved on the NCSU campus, both as a frequent guest speaker and industry leader. He is also on the NC State Computer Science Strategic Advisory Board, and is a founding member of the James B. Hunt Library Technology Advisory Board.

During his speech, Thompson congratulated the graduates on choosing a career in technology, which unlike other career paths does not follow a pre-determined route. Thompson told the graduates, “when you are in the technology field, your direction is only shaped by what you envision needs to be created.”

“Finding a mentor is the number one thing that I attribute to any success that I have had as a business leader,” Thompson added. “I am very grateful to Grant Willard, I-Cubed Founder and former CEO, for the guidance and direction he has provided me in my career. I am confident that I would not be where I am today without his mentorship. I encourage you to surround yourselves with people, both professional and personal, that care enough to tell you what you need to work on, and cheer for what you have done well.”

Thompson said of the event, “It’s nice to be able to share some of my experience with these graduates, I sincerely hope that each and every one of them is successful.”
