The venue was Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata which was participated by the students from various engineering colleges across the city. Students from Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology, Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management, Meghnath Saha Institute of Technology, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Brainware Group of Institutions, Engineering Institute for Junior Executives and Hoogly Engineering & Technology College were among the prominent ones. The students got a practical experience of visualizing the 100 KW solar energy plant installed on the roof-top of the buildings at Heritage Institute where solar energy is created and stored as an alternative source of power. Moreover they were also exposed to the operational modules of this solar energy plant and also solar street lights which were installed in the campus.
“Cost of Solar energy is slowly reducing due to a massive research and development which is making it a feasible solution for organizations to adopt and implement. Further if the cost of batteries comes down, then the feasibility will again rapidly increase,” said Mr. Prabir Chakrabarty, Senior Marketing Executive, Vikram Solar. 4 engineers from WBREDA also accompanied the members during the visit.Photo:
